"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest
prosper and be in health [#5198], even as thy soul
prospereth."
3 John 3:2
In the verse above, the apostle is praying that Gaius will prosper
and be in health according to the condition of his soul.
In the entire letter, John is talking about walking in truth,
and in order to walk in truth according to the scriptures, we
must walk as Jesus walked in obedience to the Ten
Commandments:
"Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
and THY LAW IS THE TRUTH" Psalms 119:142
Deut 28 teaches us that God gives blessings for obedience
to the Ten Commandments and curses for disobeying
them.
"The gospel of health reform" contradicts the gospel that
the apostle John preached. In this letter, John does not
even mention food or drink. So, any suggestion that food
or drink contributes to the prosperity of the soul is a
corruption of his doctrine.
The apostle Paul teaches us that foods ARE NOT A
MEANS TO BRING US TO PERFECTION:
"But meat commendeth us not to God:
for neither, if we eat, are we the better
neither, if we eat not, are we the worse."
1 Cor 8:8 (KJV)
And to the Church in Rome, Paul said:
"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."
Rom 14:17 (KJV)
