"One can certainly investigate as P---- has, and still not come to the
recognition of who Baha'u'llah is."
That statement seems arrogant to me. It might be better worded "One can
investigate and still not join the Baha'i Faith", but it seems to me if
someone investigates sincerely it is arrogance alone that would tell us that
this person's investigation does not ultimately lead them to the truth of
"who Baha'u'llah is".
Perhaps P- is right and we are wrong. That would not shake my faith. I
would prefer to be wrong in my adoration of God and His great Purpose for me
than to believe no such Purpose exists. In fact, existentially, if we
Baha'is recognize the Purpose then we will create the Purpose even if P- is
right.
Or perhaps P- cannot fathom how Baha'u'llah could be Who He claimed and the
best God can do is provide P- with proof of His claim in the Baha'i Faith,
which many of us gleefully note is far from perfect.
Perhaps P- does not fault God for the failings of the Baha'i Faith, but he
sees in the beliefs of Baha'is things with which he strongly disagrees, and
imagines there is no room for his own Baha'i Faith among the Baha'is.
I can think of many other objections to joining the Baha'i Faith that have
nothing to do with a true recognition of "who Baha'u'llah is".
