the effectual power of the gospel results in man believing unto
salvation ... lots of people have heard the same words spoken by Paul
on the occasion of Acts 13:14-52 but only those " appointed to eternal
life, believed " v.48
the verse does not say... " and as many that believed were appointed
to eternal life. "
for those who were appointed, as with all whom the Lord chooses out
of His mercy and grace, believing comes thereafter being given life,
not before, so as to seem that mighty man gets the glory for the
doing.
contrary to the gospel of the Bible, where the plainest of
Scripture gives God the glory in Christ for giving rebellious men life
and faith, these rather turn the work of God into a glory of man in
which to boast saying that believing unto salvation is all of them and
therefore God saw their good work and saved them.
it is this very doctrine of giving God the glory that separates the
wheat from the tares. the dead in spirit do not praise the Lord. Ps.
115:17 ... but rather... " They are from the world; therefore they
speak [as] from the world, and the world listens to them. " i Jn.4:12
will worshipers do not praise the Lord, being spiritually dead, but
nonetheless religious. the evidence is in who gets the glory.
since their gospel is so designed as to leave it up to man to " make
a decision for Christ, " then it is plain to see that this is the
social gospel. the gospel of the Bible is centered around Jesus
Christ as the Giver of life and man as the receiver of that life which
is in Him.
first, life must come, then man believes ( Acts 13:48 ) ... as in
the case of Jesus' friend Lazarus. dead in the grave... a spiritual
picture of the dead human spirit... then called forth by the Living
God, Jesus Christ.
man does not, in his state of spiritual death, call himself out.
that would give man the glory while he is still there, in spiritual
death.
it would be the same as saying " I called myself out of darkness and
into the light " while dead.
yet, the social gospel is so refined to be appetizing to the
spiritually dead that they actually believe themselves.
*********************************************
it is but a small step to go from the social gospel of will worship
directly to the ' signs and wonders ' camp which holds to the exact
same social gospel. there is no difference... the thinking is the
same and the twisted theology is the same.
for the gospel to be the " power of God " it must cause something to
happen in man. the power results in believing ( Ro. 1:16 ), believing
results in giving thanks to God through Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17 |
