" See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to
you, that their angels in heaven continually behold the face of My
Father who is in heaven. " Mt. 18:10
while it is true that the Holy Scriptures record many instances of
holy angelic beings being sent by God as " ministering spirits "
( Heb. 1:4 ) to those chosen by grace, there is a common philosophy
that each and every person on earth has a guardian angel assigned to
his or her care.
this is simply, not true.
and why it is not true is because this is not what's being said in
this verse, nor are the unbelievers in the care of holy angelic
beings... commentators of this verse seem all to quick to conclude
that every person on earth is assigned his own personal ' guardian '
angel.
this can not be since the lost are of their father the devil, ( Jn.
8:43,44 ) in the snare of the devil, ( 2 Tim. 2:26 ) lying in the
sexual embrace of the devil ( 1 Jn. 5:19 ) as they go about with a
belief system designed by the devil. Jn. 8:43,44; Jude 1:4.
as for the elect, the Holy Scriptures are completed two thousand
years ago and are the only rule of faith and practice... anyone coming
along since then is to be tested by the doctrine of grace as John
cautions in 1 Jn. 4:5. there are those denominations the members of
which actually come on television saying they've been visited by holy
angels and have a word from God for us.
all of these have the gospel of co-redemption by the will of man and
are proud to say so. this is no secret to those chosen by grace alone
since Satan can not develop any sort of false gospel which does not
expose itself as giving man at least part of the glory for the doing.
likewise, his sons can not possibly give all of the glory to God in
Christ for the doing... grace, in their view, is a co-effort by man
with God establishing the free will of man as the actual element which
acquire's grace... which is completely contrary to Jn. 1:12,13; 3:3;
3:16; 15:16 and Acts 13:48; 16:14, for example.
Mt. 18:10 does say that " their angels in heaven continually behold
the face of My Father who is in heaven. " which is to say, that their
abode is in heaven, back-facing the earth. unless sent by God to fill
His expressed purpose to have been done by them, that's where they
are... and their many ministrations are recorded for us in Holy
Scripture which is completed. De. 12:32; Rev. 22:18,19
since the completion of Holy Scripture there is no other trustworthy
record of angelic visits to man as being sent from God. such
declarations are not to be taken on faith either, for the Holy
Scriptures teach that Jesus Christ, Eternal Son of God is the
" Guardian " of His chosen sheep... 1 Pet. 2:25
a wonderful example of this is to be found by comparing Jn. 14:17
with Mt. 3:11, whereas it is recorded of Jesus that He, unlike John
the Baptist, baptizes with " the Holy Spirit and fire. " the ' fire '
here recorded is to be understood but one way... that the Presence of
Deity as seen in the Old Testament is largely exampled coming with
fire... note the flames of fire resting on the true believers when
Deity was poured out on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:3
this point of view is the only explanation the hearers of John the
Baptist would understand being quite familiar with the Old Testament.
by reason of Jesus Christ being the Guardian of the chosen ones of
His pasture; by reason of the Presence of Deity indwelling the chosen
ones, and by reason of the Holy Scriptures being complete two thousand
years ago and being that Holy Scripture is the only rule of faith and
practice, the office of the holy angels are ceased until the return
of Christ with them on the Last Day... Mt. 24:29-31.
until then, " The Angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear
Him, And rescues them. " Ps. 34:7 every mature believer knows that
" The Angel of the Lord " is none other than The Second Person of the
Most Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ, Eternal Son of God....
Judges 13:17,18 compare Is. 9:6, who already is present within the
believer by reason of His baptizing us with the Holy Spirit and fire.
to despise anyone of Christ's by anyone of Christ's is the same as
despising Jesus Christ Himself. Mt. 25:31-46. |
