Most protective blessings on Searles' home in Gulfport, MS, as well as all
others in the path of Hurricane Ivan. I am in FL, and am feeling
exquisitely awed and humbled by the mightiness of wind and water. May we
all live in harmony with the elements and ride safely on the storms of Life.

Indeed. I echo those sentiments, even though I'm not in FL.

Hi,
Many thanks for the concern. I'm doing well and Deborah is doing well
even though she's in Huntsville and I'm in Orlando. The house in
Gulfport is probably OK but we haven't gotten a report from our
neighbors yet. Everyone evacuated and probably as their hands full
with downed trees and such. The main brunt of the storm was evidently
about 100 miles east of Gulfport for which I am thankful and also
regretful (for the loss of lives and property to others). Meanwhile,
here in Florida, it seems we have two more storms heading our way.

I've been watching them. I've got in-laws, you and another friend in the
area. Jeanne appears to have been downgraded to a tropical depression last I
looked however. Furthermore, it is veering away from Florida. Tropical storm
Karl probably won't come anywhere near Florida. That's the good news. The
bad news is that it is forecast that hurricane activity will be up 145% on
last year, with several major hurricanes forecast. There is, for example, a
very nasty and big storm - possibly building to hurricane since it is
apparently rotating - halfway between Africa and the top end of South
America. It looks as if it will hit the Caribbean if it follows the usual
track, though that will take time. OTOH, it may dissipate before then
Meanwhile Baja California has just been hit by Hurricane Javier
