|

Hi,
I am writing an article on How Jesus advised the production of the New Wine
at the marriage party at Cana and there is something Jewish custom of
placing the six wine Jars as mentioned in John2.6:-
"And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the
purifying of the Jew, containing two or three firkins apiece."
Could some one tell me the fashion in which those six pots were laid please?
Why there were two or three firkins in each pot and why not more?
What is this ceremony of purifying the Jews please?
Also, please why the David's Cross has six corners?
Your help would be much appreciated.

These were pretty substantial jars, each holding 20-30 gallons - I'm not
sure you would want anything bigger than that!

Presumably for washing of hands before and after meals and other cleansing
rites. See Mark 7:1-4.

That is true on the physical, but there is a lot more meaning in the spiritual.
