A principal of our faith is that salvation is by grace through faith as
scripture reminds us: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God" (Ephes. 2: , and ."God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
With this in mind, we read but fail to understand that we are to run to
receive the prize: "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but
one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain" (1 Cor 9:24). What
prize? Don't all who run and endure in their faith to the end (Matt 10:22)
receive salvation? They do, so the prize is not salvation which is awarded
to all who cross the finish line from the first to the last runners..
The prize is obscurred by one of the yet to be discarded remnants of the
discarded replacement theology. It is the assumption that the innumerable
multitude saved (Rev 7:9) are the few chosen of the many called (Matt
20:16). The innumerable multitude are not the same as the few chosen of the
many called. The few chosen of the many called are ones saved at His coming,
the raptured church. The innumerable multitude includes the ones being saved
during His millennial reign.
Salvation is of the Jews (John 4:22) to which we, the adoption, become
joint-heirs with Christ. All who come to Christ, whether before He returns
or after He returns, will be saved. Resurrection is restoration from the
fall of Adam and His are resurrected at His coming: "since by man came
death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all
die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own
order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his
coming" (1 Cor. 15:21-23). However, the raptured are not the only ones
resurrected and restored from the fall. There are two resurrections in the
millennial day of the Lord (2 Pet 3:10), one at the beginning and one at the
end: "the time is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear
his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the
resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of
judgment" (John 5:28-29). When both resurrections are over, all the saved
will be innumerable.
The prize is being one who is chosen at His coming, which is not everyone
who accepts Him before He returns. By accepting Jesus we become joint heirs
and Jews by adoption, and there are many claiming to have accepted Him but
proclaim a different gospel: "I know the blasphemy of them which say they
are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan" (Rev. 2:9). And there
are many who have accepted Him and run faithfully in the race, but to
finish, not to win. The ones chosen will be few. The ones chosen will be the
ones who are conformed to the image of His son (Rom 8:29). It is they who
will spend the day of the Lord in His rest. (Heb 4:4-7), for they are not
appointed to wrath (1 Thess 5:9).
Holiness is what will separate the ones saved at His coming, from the ones
refined by fire (1 Cor 3:15), and holiness is simply the matter, of keeping
our hand upon the throttle and our eye upon the rail.
Life's Railway to Heaven
Life is like a mountain railroad,
With an engineer that's brave;
We must make the run successful,
From the cradle to the grave;
Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels;
Never falter, never quail;
Keep your hand upon the throttle,
And your eye upon the rail.
You will roll up grades of trial
You will cross the bridge of strife
See that Christ is your conductor
On this lightning train of life
Always mindful of obstruction
Do your duty, never fail
Keep your hand upon the throttle
And your eye upon the rail
Blessed Savior, Thou wilt guide us
Till we reach that blissful shore
Where the angels wait to join us
In Thy praise forevermore

You will often find obstructions
Look for storms of wind and rain
On a fill, or curve, or trestle
They will almost ditch your train
Put your trust alone in Jesus
Never falter, never fail
Keep your hand upon the throttle
And your eye upon the rail
As you roll across the trestle
Spanning Jordan's swelling tide
You be hold the Union Depot
In to which your train will glide
There you'll meet the Superintendent
God the Father, God the Son
With the hearty, joyous plaudit
"Weary pilgrim, welcome home!"
