mental retardation can be from a birth defect; the result of disease
or an accident; a near death experience such as a heart attack where
the brain is deprived of oxygen... even the result of an allergic
reaction to medication...
too bad for these folks that they haven't " made a decision for
Christ " and filled all the conditions placed on them by
Fundamentalism.
" they had their chance while they were well " is the usual position
held by the Fundamentalists.
Christ is powerless to cleanse them of their sins since He didnt get
their permission to save them while they could be saved... yet, the
Fundamentalists say Christ died for " everyone. " except for these
folks stricken with mental retardation... unless of course, the
Fundamentalists pronoun these folks automatically saved because they
never had a chance to co-redeemer themselves because of this horrible
birth defect, or accident or disease...
that would mean, for the mentally retarded born so, these are saved
without filling conditions and salvation then is unconditional for
them at least... it's not unusual for Fundamentalists to preach
several kinds of plans of salvation.
and that much is true by their exposition of Jn. 3:16.
whether the reader interprets this verse to mean salvation is
conditional or unconditional, the verse still explains salvation to be
limited and effectual only for the believer.
thanks be to God in Christ that since " none seek for God "
salvation is not based on man... unregenerate man finds the things of
God " foolishness "... that is why God so designed salvation to be all
of Him and none of man. Ps. 3:8 |
