To what extent is improvisation important in your magickal practice?
I find I do have some set procedures but often have to improvise
a fair bit within those, and to some extent outside those, rather
than using some formula/recipe all of the time.

I do not mean just improvisation of words and in fact so far I
rarely use words, more just willings. |

Some parts of reality have a structure which is repeatable and
predictable. These parts are addressed through ritual and set formulas.
Many other parts of reality are chaotic or are the results of so many
combinations that they are practically unpredictable. These parts of
reality we should address through improvising and adapting. Some things
that come our way are not completely described through observation or
fully understood by conscious analysis. These things should be addressed
through the total being in space, time and spirit. Use the parts and
qualities of yourself in every working that most powerfully respond to
what is in order to produce what will be from the interaction. Some
things are not always what has been. Other things seemingly have no past
at all. Each part of reality has its analog within the mage and the
magic. Those are the parts that should be used to influence and respond
to the moment.

Searles, you are one whose responses to questions (even when the questions |
are not my own) are a pleasure to read. The simple organisation of
experience into these two categories, the magic of logic and the magic of
intuition, becomes crystal clear. I am impressed, as usual.

Many thanks Pangur. I try to place myself in the right meme space to
understand what is being created. This is something that I think Druids
did on a regular basis. It's similar IMO to the Feat of Béci which
involves seeing the entire picture in a number of simultaneous events.
This skill is one of the major aids in performing divinations as well as
analyses.
