Okay, I think I'm figuring out a few things about Zen.

Is it true that Zen students are subjected to verbal abuse by their
teachers, which they then imitate on others?

This is completely alien to me, having only been exposed to Tibetan
buddhism where the teachers are usually gentle and kind, knowing that
the tendency of students is to imitate their teachers. If they use
wrathful means, it is rare enough that the student cannot mistake it for
normal behavior that they should imitate.

I'm reading Tang's previous post now, maybe that will give me more
insights ... but I'm leaning more and more to "Zen is not buddhism."

Marpa treated Milarepa badly in order to destroy his tremendous negative
karma from killing with magical spells and so on. Otherwise, he was a
very kind and gentle man, even on the outside, although he could be
stern with his employees as a practical part of being a householder with
a farm to run.

Evelyn may have flakey views about telepathy (what does anyone really

Thank you Lhamo. I am sorry to correct you, but we weren't actually
talking about telepathy, which is communication between minds. We were
talking about clairvoyance, which is different.

Using "scientific" testing for psychic abilities is like using an old
fashioned crank style needle phonograph to play a CD. In short, it doesn't
work and you will get no definitive answers.

I know some one who is the same. Yes it is a great secret.

Telepathy is no big mystery.

Do you really want a sense that let's you know exactly
how it feels for your prey to be eaten alive?

Are you ready to suffer the pangs every sickness, injury and death
in whatever your range would be?

Want to share minds with the truly insane?

Any trend towards telepathy was weeded out of the gene pool
a long, long time ago.
