Does anyone here recognize Christ was teaching material renunciation and
did so Himself?
The material domain is a hopeless tyranny of selfishness in harm against
other lives, whilst the message of the Gospels is God will have us live
with and among others and not harm their lives. There is no foundation on
the earth for us to indeed do that, yet they whom strive to do so must deny
and forsake most of this life's havings, and that self-denial is itself the
substance of the cross. (All must compete against and prey upon others both
to sustain their own earthly living and to obtain this life's benefits.
We kill for food and profit-trade's sellers buy from other sellers using the
buyers suffering labour and not their own. Profit is the margin of the
labour transfered from the buyer to the seller, and the labour gained by the
seller is used to then buy using the suffering labour of another, not their
own! Owners/Sellers are predators, necessary desiring others suffer and lose
for their own gains, but there are a great multitude of other facts of this
life which make it naturally, hopelessly harmful.)
I recognize the followship divides between they whom see the Gospels are
teaching belief and good-works and sacrifice from those whom decide the
message is one of only ones duty for belief. I also see some can themselves
recognize the New Testament has a number of contradictions, whilst some
insist it's writers were inspired and guided by God (Jesus) and everything
is precisely as God (Jesus) wanted it to be and must be perfectly good and
true, as God (Jesus) is perfectly righteous and good. Somewhere in these
greatly diverging views there needs be the courage to see what is as it is,
and to not 'reshape' it to pacify ones fears, nor to 'reshape' it to thereby
support some other of ones interpretations, opinions, or ideas.
The statements of Christ for us to seek God and God's Heaven are obvious.
The statements of Christ for our good will and works among all humankind
are obvious. The statements of Christ for us to deny ourselves and the earth
are obvious. The promise of Christ for our labours and sacrifices to be
honoured by God are obvious. Where are the lions whom are also lambs?
