I came across this site that contains an excellent presentation of how
our perceptions may alter our beliefs. OTOH it is also my own belief
and practice that one can enhance the capabilities of the body and the
mind during such episodes to go beyond what can be learned during
so-called normal perception. Is it purely physical, psychological,
mental or spiritual? Are nightmares real? How about OOBE?

IMO Druids of old and of today investigate the truth of such things
and achieve a mastery of them and their possibilities. As to what
those possibilities are, perhaps we can mutually discover them during
a discussion of th ephenomena found on this site:

and particularly this page:

The control of the mind and minds is one of the abilities that Druids
were said to have achieved that is presented to us from the ancient
lore. I'd think that dreaming, Otherworldly travel, the warding of
spirits and the ability to create barriers of perception are a few of
the Druidic abilities that might benefit from a study and a mastery of
the mind's role in altered perceptions of reality that occur naturally
within people.

Susan Blackmore has written some very interesting stuff about this

The folks over at alt.dreams.lucid are very good at science-based
explanations of dream-stuff, you might want to pay attention to those guys
too.
