... which moved God to elect him. this idea is strictly one of
salvation by being good enough to merit it... the key element in all
the preaching coming from those who teach self-salvation, co-redeeming
oneself because, as one Evangelical type put it... " our Father smiles
upon our acts of goodness. No one will be saved without them. " .
before his conversion by the grace of God ( and grace means
unmerited favor ) Paul was an extreme persecutor of the church. a
terrorist set against those saved by grace, in hard core unbelief and
rebellion against his own Messiah.
according to modern Evangelical philosophy, there was divine good in
Paul which he skillfully conjured into saving faith all the while he
was directing the destruction of the church.
it can not be said that because he saw and heard Jesus Christ,
Eternal Son of God, when he was thrown from his horse that he was
moved to " make a decision for Christ " as the Evangelicals like to
put it... thousands of citizens saw and heard the Savior during His
time on earth which did not result in their salvation... especially
Judas.
otherwise, such would mean salvation is only for the smart... which
is the crux of the Evangelical gospel... this leaves to die in their
sins all who aren't smart , as well as those not old enough to
comprehend, such as babies and infants, and the mentally impaired,
comatose patients, those unconscience during a medical procedure and
so on.
the Evangelical gospel dispells itself. it teaches that " Christ
died for everyone " yet, everyone is not saved. this of course means
that Christ Jesus is a failure, and we must therefore look for
another. He took the sin of unbelief to the cross as well, oh
Evangelical.
it also means that God is not omnipotent... that He can not do what
He purposes to do... unless of course man gives Him permission...
after all, we don't want to be " robots " as they like to put it.
but thanks be to God Almighty who Himself provides salvation to His
chosen ones giving them the faith of Jesus as a free gift, unearned by
any sort of good residing in the them which moved God to save them...
otherwise, He owed them salvation. " there are none righteous, not
even one. " Ro.3:10
please tell me where in the Holy Scriptures i can find a verse which
says God owes man something.
Paul admits that he was a persecutor of the church ( the word church
and the word elect are translated from the same word ' ekklesia... the
called out ones ) and goes on in the context of Philippians 3 to say
his conversion not by his own righteousness but through the
righteousness which comes from God. oh ? righteousness comes from
God ?
how then do the self-redeemers claim salvation on the basis of
something they've done good and proper towards God ? these would
quickly grab hold of Christ to throw Him over the nearest cliff for
teaching unconditional election as they did in Luke chapter 4.
these are the tares among the wheat, using Bible words but without
understanding. since the Spirit of God gives all the glory to God for
the saving work of God in Christ, why are these opposed to giving God
all of the glory ? from where do you suppose their spiritual guidance
come ?
why do they insist, as in the quote of the self-redeemed fellow
noted above, that good works save ? that statement calls God a liar,
and that is a most serious matter... those who are saved are those who
give God all of the glory for His work of salvation... as in Acts
13:47,48. |
