2008-08-11 07:36:42 - India's Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal in
the Men's 10m Air Rifle in Beijing on August 11 with an incredible
performance in the final. Bindra shot a total score of 700.5.
BEIJING, August 1: Abhinav Bindra wins gold medal in Men's 10m Air
Rifle after shooting a total of 700.5. He becoming the first Indian
individual gold medallist at the Olympics. He scored 596 (fourth) in
the qualifying round and out-scored all other shooters in the finals
with a round of 104.5.He is the CEO of Abhinav Futuristics. He is born
on September 28, 1982 Dehra Dun, India.
Abhinav has given India the moments of pride after India last won 1980
gold in Olympic in hockey.
Abhinav has won six gold medals in different international meets in
2001.
At the 2002 Commonwealth Games, in air rifle event at Manchester, he
won Gold in the Pairs event and Silver in the individual event.
Olympic Games,2004 he broke the Olympic record but failed to win a
medal. He is a recipient of the Arjuna award in 2001 and the Rajiv
Gandhi Khel Ratna award for the year 2001-2002.
Lt. Col. J.S. Dhillon was the first to spot and is his first coach.
Apart from being a shooter, Abhinav Bindra holds an M.B.A.
Prime Minister Dr Man Mohan Singh today congratulated Bindra and
described the feat as a "golden performance". President Pratibha Patil
also congratulated Abhinav Bindra. |
