Everyone should be grateful to the PTC for the work they do helping loving
parents decide what is decent for their children to be viewing.

Some child-popular shows 'push the limit,' some don't
Allie Martin and Jody Brown - OneNewsNow - 11/18/2008 9:00:00 AM
The Parents Television Council has ranked the broadcast television shows
that are most popular with children.
The PTC found that reality and game shows continue to grow in popularity and
are often the most family-friendly fare for children to view. The
media-monitoring group rated each of Nielsen's 20 most popular prime-time
television shows with children ages 2 to 17 according to their suitability
for that audience, based on foul language, sexual content, and violence.
The PTC's Melissa Henson says although family-friendly shows are growing in
popularity, networks continue to push the limits of what is appropriate.
"There really is a lack of family-friendly programming," she laments. "And
it's very unfortunate because we've seen those shows be very successful in
the past, and even on cable. Programs like Disney's High School Musical or
some of the programs on Nickelodeon that are targeted for younger audiences
are hugely successful.
"So I think there is a market there that's really being under-served by the
broadcast networks."
Among the shows that were rated most suitable were: Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, Don't Forget the Lyrics, Deal
or No Deal, NBC Sunday Night Football, and American Idol.
PTC, however, cautions parents that while some reality shows garner high
ratings among families, not all are suitable for children -- even though
they are popular among that age demographic. The group warns that programs
such as Fox's Moment of Truth and Hell's Kitchen, for example, "pander to a
lower level" by pushing the limits of what is appropriate.
The Council also lists among those top 20 programs it considers
"questionably suitable," NBC's American Gladiators, Fox's The Simpsons and
King of the Hill, and CBS's Survivor and Amazing Race.
As PTC president Tim Winter notes: "The broadcast networks are fully aware
of the positive returns that family-friendly programs provide, but they
insist on pushing the limits at every turn."

Deciding what's "decent" is a private matter.
Why do you want the government to decide for you? Because you have
fascist tendencies or because you're not intelligent enough to decide
by yourself?
Besides, what do you know about "decency", nazi sack of shit? |

It's because he doesn't know what "denency" means.

Watch him seriously blow a gasket if they ever show the Brit series
Sugar Rush anywhere in the USA. It's aimed at teens, and raised a few
eyebrows even on this side of the puddle... *grin* |

It is up to individual parents to raise their children. It is not the job
of religious nutcases to eliminate things that other folks would like to
access.
Stay the hell out of the public sphere, or you will be beaten back by
those who would take individual responsibility for their own family.

Unfortunately, "IBen" isn't INTELLIGENT enough to do that.
Making an ASS of himself in here is ALL he's good for.
I a way, though, that's a GOOD thing. He shines a bright spotlight,
constantly, on the hatefulness, bigotry, and LOONINESS of the RRR
Cult. Thus helping to raise society's consciousness of that -- as
something to REJECT, for the betterment of the country.
So there IS a silver lining to the dark cloud of "IBen."
