I want to express my eternal gratitude to the Jewish people and especially
Moses for giving the world the Ten Commandments. When I first heard them as
a young boy, I must admit they bothered me because I don't like being told
what to do without an explanation, but almost immediately, I realized that
out of the millions of things there are to do on this planet, these were
just ten things we must and must not do. I saw them as a guardrail to an
endless path, which made them easier to accept. If I have my own version,
it's because I want rules I can keep easily to obey God. Here's my version.
13 Commandments
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Do not take the name of God in vain by saying you are God and/or that God
does not exist.
2. Do not make graven images of God by making He and She less than
everything and/or not all knowing.
3. Do not kill, or assault, except in defense or to punish, with a Judge and
Jury to decide.
4. Do not steal possessions and/or memories, not even bad memories.
5. Do not covet by planning to steal and/or harm.
6. Do not commit adultery even with consent and/or as a single unmarried,
unless you never want children.
7. Honor your parents when you can and as you should.
8. Keep the Sabbath Wholy anytime you rest and/or learn.
9. Do not have gods before God.
10. Do not lie unless lied to or in fiction.
11. Honor your children by all and not just by parents.
12. Do to others as you would have done to you and you have had done to you,
any one of the collective you. (That just means if you can't do to, somebody
else will.)
13. Do not become or be homosexual, unless you never want children.
