Prior to 9-11 the Democrats helped Republicans destroy our Rights and our
Economy on every level of US Government On 9-11 the Democrats began
helping
the Republicans in handing our Government over to groups in Israel that
are
directly tied with the Old Hardliner Communist from the fallen Soviet
Union,
causing us to not only to be losing this War on terrorism, but losing the
all but forgotten Cold War. Then the Democrats helped the Republicans
launch this unjustifiable War on Iraq, even though I wrote the President
and
many of the Democrats, warning them that there was no WMD in Iraq, and
that
our Enemies had drawn us into this War to destroy us from another angle.
The
other angle was the Old Hardliner Communist from the fallen Soviet Union,
are using the State of Israel to take control of both our US Parties, so
that they can destroy America by drawing us into these useless so called
wars against terrorism, and allow foreign immigrants to get into
positions
in our Government where the Old Hardliner Communist from the fallen
Soviet
Union, in cooperation with immigrants from Communist China and other
places,
could overthrow us from within, as they raise our Costs of living by
overregulation of our US Corporations, while importing multitudes of
Immigrants to lower our Labor Wages, and with the Head of the Department
of
Labor from Asia, cause millions of working poor Americans to be in danger
of
becoming homeless. Even the Big Three US Auto makers are suffering from
their overregulation, losing tens of thousands of jobs to Foreign Auto
Makers, who pay lower wages for the same work. And now this so called
Global
Warming protection of the environment, a Global Warming lie that they
invented in these past thirty years to help them destroy our Economy with
over regulation, is being promoted by both democrats and Republicans.
This
is the reason you are hearing of so many parents either abandoning or
killing there children. Hundreds of abandoned children, or murdered
children
in my area along this past year, just because the parents can't afford
them
because the Costs of Living are too high, and the Wages are too low. Then
on
top of it, when they get caught abandoning a child because they can't
afford
them, instead of getting them a good job, a good place to live, reliable
transportation, good health care, and a good education for their
children,
they are arrested and their US Rights are completely stripped from them,
destroying both their lives and their children's lives forevermore.
And you don't want to vote Independent? That shows that you are so
ignorant
of life, that you are intentionally working for our enemies, and should
be
driven out of this country with them.
Joshua Schmit was just killed in Iraq, and was my cousin. I was notified
of
his death this morning, but none of us know how he died yet.
I have lost Family in every major War since the 1st World War! And seeing
how we have lost our Rights on one level of the Government or another,
makes
me wonder why theses Politicians keep saying, that the Sacrifice of their
lives was for our Rights, that lie is a total disgrace and dishonor, to
the
lives and memory, of our fallen Heroes. Since we have lost what they died
for, and cannot get our Rights back, they died in vain. This Government
and
our News Media and our Doctors do not support our Troops that died or
were
injured at all in this respect, they just use them and throw them away!
The IRS has been working on cleaning up the Tax Frauds of Defense
Contractors. But now they find the bigger Tax Frauds are Doctors and
Lawyers.
Just like I said, the Drug manufacturers and Media are brainwashing the
Public as these Doctors and Lawyers take over our Legal and Medical
Systems,
and have been taking over our Corporations and destroying America and
taking
over our Government. They are not only Tax Frauds, they are running a
Nationwide Medical and Legal Scam. Like I said, if you want to find the
Medical Fraud and the Neo Nazi Medical Abuse in America, just follow the
Tax
Money!

been ALL Republican,
But it was the last fifty years that destroyed America, since WW2, and the
Democrats had a big part in the destruction of America, as well as the
Republicans. All you want is more destruction like in the last fifty years.
WW2 is where we started dealing with the Communist Nations, and that was
when our Politicians on both sides began selling out to Foreign Interests,
and each generation since then has just built on the previous
administrations Treason. The only way out of it is to Vote Independent for
all levels of US Government, deregulate and start over.

I can see you put alot of stock in the past history of how each side
(D and R) have performed and if you focus on that as you seem to do,
yes it would seem the "destruction of America" is the fault of both
sides. I can understand your frustration with that and your thoughts
that it will not change. Sometimes unfortunately war is necessary
though to stop the slaughter of innocents. I see war as a failure and
I am of the opinion war should only be waged when every last avenue
has been exhausted and there is simply no other choice, as a last and
final resort to defend. I think you have to take into account more
recently that 9-11 was very unique and our country was feeling much
anger and resentment looking for some sort of payback. It was a huge
mistake as our European allies tried to tell us not to act in
vengeance, of course Bush lied and threw gas on the already burning
fire in us and we blindly supported it for a moment, just long enough
for him to pull what he did. We should have focused our energy on the
terrorists and worked with a unified front of all governments willing
to help. That is exactly what Democrats wanted all along and then they
were lied to like everyone was that there were WMDs to deal with in
Iraq. Democrats did not go along with this war and vote for it because
they are in business with Republicans, they thought the threat was
real, we all did, because someone lied to us.
I do not believe many of our past wars have been in vain or just for
the hell of it like we are in with Iraq now. I can see you have lost
complete faith in the current two ruling parties in this instance
however. I guarantee you after what idiot Bush has done with Iraq, no
Democrat will ever tread lightly on this issue of going to war ever
again and war will not be waged under Democratic leadership unless
there is a substantial enough reason and the choice is very, very
clear. I do believe the days of rushing in at least by Democrats are
well behind us. You see that is a huge difference right there,
Democrats are progressive, Republicans will stay the way they always
have, they are stubborn in their ignorance and reject any kind of
change for the good. I know Independents are progressive as well and
of course I would vote Independent before I would ever vote
Republican, but the Democrats to me are the only choice we have right
now if want to turn this mess around before it is too late.
I will say, you do have some very clear vision as to what corruption
lies squarely on the shoulders of our own politicians, our tax system
and corporate greed, it has become a corporate and greed driven
Government on the part of some select individuals in office. We did
manage to vote some of that cancer out though in the mid terms. Again
though, the party most responsible and connected to the major
corporations and their money are the Republicans, who knew? It is
essential we look for the good ones who are actually there to serve
our country, but that all means education levels need to be raised for
the average voter to understand it. There is no way that will happen
with Republicans in office, they systematically as you point out
yourself dismantle anything that is for the American taxpayer and
abuse their positions of power to pad their own pockets by controlling
every area they can that will personally makes them money, on that I
totally agree with you.
I do like the idea of Independents getting in the race at a more
substantial level and yes even challenging Democrats, it would be good
for the whole process, but lets get the mess cleaned up first, the
best chance we have at that is to get the Dems back in so we can
balance things back out and get this country back online so we can
even have a more even playing field. Democrats would welcome the
challenge, Republicans on the other want to just destroy anyone that
is not them. |

In a clear sign of its intent to reign in dissident American media

Unable to attack such a powerful media figure as Don Imus, directly, the
US War Leaders, and as we have seen many times before, resorted to a
massive media attack against him using as the reason a racial slur against
a US woman's basketball team, but which has been pointed out by other
media outlets was not by any means a rare occurrence for the legendary
radio icon to make.
But, to the US War Leaders, Don Imus represented the most serious threat,
to date, of the growing assault against them by America's media
personalities threatening to expose the truths behind the events of
September 11, 2001 and the Iraq/Afghanistan Wars; and to such an extent
that another American media personality, Rosie O'Donnell, has expressed
concern that US Military Leaders could actually imprison Mr. Imus.
From our past research of the tactics used against those threatening
America's War Leaders, the likelihood of imprisonment for Don Imus would
only occur should he persist in his threats to undermine their authority,
and which appears, at this time, unlikely after the public disgrace he has
had to endure.
It is expected, also, that the US War Leaders actions against Don Imus
will have a further chilling affect upon other American media
personalities questioning their authority, such as the popular US movie
actor, Charlie Sheen, and who was one of the first to question the events
of September 11, 2001, and as we can read as reported by New Zealand
Herald News Service in their article titled "Charlie Sheen may voice 9/11
documentary", and which says:
"US actor Charlie Sheen is reportedly in talks to narrate an Internet
documentary that suggests elements of the US government were behind the
September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre.
"Sheen's representatives say he was involved in the production of a new
version of Loose Change, a 90-minute conspiracy theory film that has been
seen by more than 10 million internet viewers."
Apparently lost upon America's media personalities is that their
government is being investigated by the International Red Cross for the
torture of an Iranian Diplomat by whipping with steel cables on his feet;
a government that would have its soldiers imprison in an Ethiopian torture
jail a Swedish teenage girl; a government that would even contemplate the
release of one of the World's most wanted terrorists, Posada Carriles;
does not hesitate, for even a second, to crush any, and all, opposition to
it.
To the American people themselves their remains no evidence that they
know, much less care, about the dire state of their once Free Nation.
The group currently protesting President Putin, and the Global Warming Group |
in the US, is directly tied with the Old Hardliner Communists that fled to
Israel and the US upon the collapse of the Soviet Union. And they are
directly tied with our US and Israeli Governments. These Old Hardliner
Communists ordered the Chechnya Attack on Russia to try to draw Russia into
the Middle Eastern War, so that they could try to overthrow Putin from
within. These Old Hardliner Communists connected with our US and Israeli
Governments may not have ordered 9-11, but they knew about the attack. On
9-11 Israelis connected with these Old Hardliner Communists were arrested by
US Law Enforcement because they were celebrating the attack trying to get
their pictures taken in front of the ruins. These Israelis in direct
connection with these Old Hardliner Communists, were not celebrating that
they did the attack, they were celebrating because someone did what they had
anticipated, and that they would be able to overthrow the US Government from

Government on the part of some select individuals in office. We did
manage to vote some of that cancer out though in the mid terms. Again
though, the party most responsible and connected to the major
corporations and their money are the Republicans, who knew? It is
essential we look for the good ones who are actually there to serve
our country, but that all means education levels need to be raised for
the average voter to understand it. There is no way that will happen
with Republicans in office, they systematically as you point out
yourself dismantle anything that is for the American taxpayer and
abuse their positions of power to pad their own pockets by controlling
every area they can that will personally makes them money, on that I
totally agree with you.
I do like the idea of Independents getting in the race at a more
substantial level and yes even challenging Democrats, it would be good
for the whole process, but lets get the mess cleaned up first, the
best chance we have at that is to get the Dems back in so we can
balance things back out and get this country back online so we can
even have a more even playing field. Democrats would welcome the
challenge, Republicans on the other want to just destroy anyone that
is not them.
Before the last election, I wrote President George W Bush, saying that I was |
for getting Bin Laden and the likes of him, who launch attacks killing both
the innocent along with the guilty, and i wrote Democrats the same. But I
also told them that though I have many Family Members in US Armed Forces,
and the US Army would not let me reenlist on 9-11 because of my disability,
being a Traumatic Brain Injury which caused a Multiple Complex Seizure
Disorder, and a severe case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, I told the
President that I could not support his unjustifiable War on Iraq, though I
gave him advice and information about the Enemy in Iraq, because I have to
defend my Family Members fighting there, then because I had been taken
captive by Terrorists and barely escaped with my life, I asked if my
Militia, the C.A.L.M. before the Storm, the unarmed underground Civil
American Liberties Militia, could Arm, and go after Bin Laden ourselves. But
they refused my request, and instead the FBI asked me to help interpret
Arabic for them, because they needed translators, because I sent them some
info in Arabic and translated it for them, but I have the same problem that
they do, I don't have enough translators myself.
But then to top it off, during the past Presidential Election, because
George W Bush was going to be in Lee's Summit Mo where I lived at the time,
the Kansas City VA was ordered to watch out for people who opposed George W
Bush, and when I went in for a follow-up of an infection of Hepatitis A,
from cleaning up a sewer backup, a VA Dr. said that just in case something
happened to the President while he was visiting, he said he was going to
give me an alibi, and had me locked on the Mental Ward where I was given
Drugs that were already known to make me Psychotic, and cause the symptoms
of my Organic Brain damage to become more prominent. Though I fought against
it, my online computer was broken into and someone tried to set me up as a
Terrorists, and I notified the FBI and CNN and Time Warner Road Runner
Cable, and gave them the proof, then someone broke into my online computer
and replaced all the original files, but would not say who did it. I am a
Nuclear Biological and Chemical Warfare Instructor, and I have online and
offline computers filled with info of Iran's Nuclear Programs, Russia'
Nuclear Programs, and North Korea's Nuclear Programs, and China's Nuclear
Programs. My online and offline computers are full of information on their
Biological and Chemical Warfare developments, including an extensive study
of the AVIAN Flu Virus, and where it originated. My online and offline
computers are full of information on how they build IEDs in Iraq, and where
they get the explosives and detonators. My online and offline computers are
filled with information on Old Hardliner Communist Groups since the fall of
the Soviet Union, including their Interests and Activities. So someone from
those Groups used the info on my online computer to use CNN and the State of
NY, to set me up for forced Mental treatment, because I was hunting Bin
Laden, and the Doctor in NY even had me sign a written Contract before I
could get out, saying that I would stop looking for Bin Laden on my own, and
would not make the News Headlines in the next two years. And though the Law
firms that I went to said that I have a good Law Suit, they said it would be
to expensive for them to handle it, because it includes two States, the
Federal government, both Political Parties, and several Corporations.
Neither Democrat or Republican will even lift a finger to stop it from
happening to more US Citizens who have committed no crime.
Are you still sure that you still want a Democrat in power, not an
Independent?

God allowed Cain to live after he killed his brother so the biblical
evidence against the death penalty is very strong. Bible thumpers tend
to ignore the bible when it doesn't conform to their bigotries and
prejudices.
The 10 Commandments say "thou shall not kill" but thumpers who want to
kill people rewrote it to say "thou shall not murder."
(I have yet to see a 10 Commandment monument that uses their
translation...not even their monuments)
God murdered people also - Sodom and Gomorrah and the 40 day flood are
perfect examples of God saying do what I say, not what I do.

to their leader in Kansas City, but the car broke down at the 11 mile
marker, just outside Kansas City, and my friend and I were able to escape
while they were trying to get the car started. To make a long story short,
we got to the Police, and eventually CID and the FBI finally caught the
guys.
I am an expert with twenty-seven different weapons systems, but I was not
allowed to carry a weapon then, or now. If I would have been allowed to
carry a weapon then, there would have been two less terrorists to worry
about! When that situations occurs again, not being able to carry a weapon
now, I and others might not live through it! We need to reinstate the US
Constitution on all levels of US Government, because CID came about, just
because our US Government cannot hold on to our weapons that keep falling

It is amazing how The US Government and US Public makes the same mistakes
over and over. How much corruption is in the Agencies that are suppose to be
paying for rebuilding Iraq? How many innocent People are being targeted in
the War on Terrorism, instead of bringing the guilty to stand before a
Judge? How many innocent that are trying to help us, are falsely being
accused of being Terrorists, just because they are Middle Eastern? How much
Liberty are US Citizens losing because of the War on Terrorism?
Compare the response to the incident that caused the Sioux Uprising, and the
response of the Massacre of the Indians and injustices done to them by the
US, and their response to 9-11. We would have gotten Bin Laden and his
likes, if the US had not declared War on Iraq.
While the Civilians were training their Civilian Militia to fire rifles,
four Sioux Indians challenged them to a shooting match, and after the four
Settlers shot the targets, the four Sioux took their turn, and shot the four
Settlers instead of the targets. This sparked the Sioux Uprising, because
Chief Little Crow was afraid that the Settlers and US Calvary would respond
and kill all the Native Indians, so at a Pow-wow, he was trying to encourage
all the Indian Tribes to rise with him, and destroy the Settlers and US
Calvary before they could respond to the shooting match incident. This was
called a "MASSACRE that needed National Response," by the Settlers, instead
of a few guilty Indians that needed to be brought to Justice.
But a Chief sitting among the Pow-wow, was saved by my Great Great
Grandfather, Johann Herman Loegering one cold winter, when Johann was
hunting, and found the Chief and his Squaw and Papoose freezing in one of
the coldest winters to hit North America. Johann took them home and fed and
clothed them that winter, and in return for his kindness, upon hearing Chief
Little Crow's plan, he and his Braves rose and went to Johann's Homestead
and placed Native Guards with him, that stood with him against the Hostile
Sioux, while many of the Settlers were afraid to join in the battle along
side them, being afraid that the friendly Indians would turn on him like in
the shooting match.
Though the friendly Indians stood and defended him, and saved him and his
family. The friendly Indians were treated cruelly by the Calvary when they
arrived, and were sent to an Indian reservation in North Dakota. Johann was
not the only one to eyewitness the unjustness of the Settlers and US
Government, they all pointed to the corruption, and instead of solving the
problems, they all did their own evils for profit. When the Public demands
the clear right to ask our rulers to punish the guilty, the Public and the
Government always responds with many injustices upon many of the innocent.
It is so ironically similar to how they are dealing with Iraq and the War on
Terrorism, it is pathetic. The US Public and the US Government is responding
with way too many injustices upon many of the innocent even here in our
Homeland, and are destroying all of our Liberty in the process.
Read about History repeating itself for yourself! Here is just one letter to
get you started, look on the Internet and find their different points of
view, and you will see it is all the same type of corruption, and the same
type of injustices being done by the Public and by the Government.
It is clear from this letter, that like Johann, few settlers wanted to kill
the Indians who did this, let alone all the Indians. "There is no man who
does not feel that the savages who have committed these deeds of violence
must meet their doom." The massacre of the Indians and the injustices
brought upon them, was instigated mostly by the Religious Right, demanding
that the Government should respond to their voice, and bring about Justice.

Judge? How many innocent that are trying to help us, are falsely being
accused of being Terrorists, just because they are Middle Eastern? How much
Liberty are US Citizens losing because of the War on Terrorism?
Compare the response to the incident that caused the Sioux Uprising, and the
response of the Massacre of the Indians and injustices done to them by the
US, and their response to 9-11. We would have gotten Bin Laden and his
likes, if the US had not declared War on Iraq.
While the Civilians were training their Civilian Militia to fire rifles,
four Sioux Indians challenged them to a shooting match, and after the four
Settlers shot the targets, the four Sioux took their turn, and shot the four
Settlers instead of the targets. This sparked the Sioux Uprising, because
Chief Little Crow was afraid that the Settlers and US Calvary would respond
and kill all the Native Indians, so at a Pow-wow, he was trying to encourage
all the Indian Tribes to rise with him, and destroy the Settlers and US
Calvary before they could respond to the shooting match incident. This was
called a "MASSACRE that needed National Response," by the Settlers, instead
of a few guilty Indians that needed to be brought to Justice.
But a Chief sitting among the Pow-wow, was saved by my Great Great
Grandfather, Johann Herman Loegering one cold winter, when Johann was
hunting, and found the Chief and his Squaw and Papoose freezing in one of
the coldest winters to hit North America. Johann took them home and fed and
clothed them that winter, and in return for his kindness, upon hearing Chief
Little Crow's plan, he and his Braves rose and went to Johann's Homestead
and placed Native Guards with him, that stood with him against the Hostile
Sioux, while many of the Settlers were afraid to join in the battle along
side them, being afraid that the friendly Indians would turn on him like in
the shooting match.
Though the friendly Indians stood and defended him, and saved him and his
family. The friendly Indians were treated cruelly by the Calvary when they
arrived, and were sent to an Indian reservation in North Dakota. Johann was
not the only one to eyewitness the unjustness of the Settlers and US
Government, they all pointed to the corruption, and instead of solving the
problems, they all did their own evils for profit. When the Public demands
the clear right to ask our rulers to punish the guilty, the Public and the
Government always responds with many injustices upon many of the innocent.
It is so ironically similar to how they are dealing with Iraq and the War on
Terrorism, it is pathetic. The US Public and the US Government is responding
with way too many injustices upon many of the innocent even here in our
Homeland, and are destroying all of our Liberty in the process.
Read about History repeating itself for yourself! Here is just one letter to
get you started, look on the Internet and find their different points of
view, and you will see it is all the same type of corruption, and the same
type of injustices being done by the Public and by the Government.
It is clear from this letter, that like Johann, few settlers wanted to kill
the Indians who did this, let alone all the Indians. "There is no man who
does not feel that the savages who have committed these deeds of violence
must meet their doom." The massacre of the Indians and the injustices
brought upon them, was instigated mostly by the Religious Right, demanding
that the Government should respond to their voice, and bring about Justice.

THE DUTY OF CITIZENS CONCERNING THE INDIAN MASSACRE
The late fearful massacre has brought sorrow to all our hearts. To see our
beautiful state desolated, our homes broken up, and our entire border
stained with blood, is a calamity which may well appal us. No wonder that
deep indignation has been aroused and that our people cry vengeance. But if
that vengeance is to be more than a savage thirst for blood, we must examine
the causes which have brought this bloodshed, that our condemnation may fall
on the guilty. No outbursts of passion, no temporary expediency, no deed of
revenge can excuse us from the stern duties which such days of sorrow thrust
upon us. . . .
In all our relations with the Indians we have persistently carried out the
idea that they were a sovereign people. If it is true that a nation cannot
exist within a nation, that these heathen were to send no ambassadors to us
and we none to them, that they had no power to compel us to observe it for
themselves, then our first step was a fatal step. They did not possess a
single element of sovereignty; and had they possessed it, we could not, in
justice to ourselves, have permitted them to exercise it in the duties
necessary to a nation's self-existence.
The second most fatal error was a natural inference from the first. Because
we had treated with them as an independent nation, we left them without
government. Their own rude patriarchal government was always weakened and
often destroyed by the new treaty relations. The chiefs lost all
independence of action, and sooner or later became the pliant tools of
traders and agents, powerful for mischief, but powerless for good. Nothing
was given to supply the place of this defective tribal government. The only
being in America who has no law to punish the guilty or protect the
innocent, is the treaty Indian. . . .
These evils have been increased by bad influences, and even fostered by the
careless unconcern of the Government. We have taken no steps to restrain
savage warfare among tribes at variance. They have murdered each other in
our streets, fought beside our villages, even shaken gory scalps in our
faces, and we did not know that we were nursing passions to break out in
violence and blood. There was no mark of condemnation upon their pagan
customs, for even high officials have paid them to hold heathen dances to
amuse a crowd.
The Government, instead of compelling these men to live by honest labor, has
fostered idleness, encouraged savage life by payment of money, by purchases
of scalping knives and trinkets, and has really given the weight of
influence on the side of heathen life.
The sale of fire-water has been almost unblushing, when it was known that
while it made drunkards of white men, it made devils of red men.
The system of trade was ruinous to honest traders and pernicious to the
Indian. It prevented all efforts for personal independence and acquisition
of property. The debts of shiftless and indolent were paid out of the sale
of the patrimony of the tribe. . . .
Such a mistaken policy would be bad enough in the hands of the wisest and
best men, but it is made a hundred-fold worse by making the office of an
Indian agent one of reward for political services. It has been sought, not
because it was one of the noblest trusts ever committed to men to try and
redeem, . . . but because, upon a pittance of salary, a fortune could be
realized in a few years.
The voice of this whole nation has declared that the Indian Department is
the most corrupt in the Government. Citizens, editors, legislators, heads of
the departments, and President alike agree that it has been characterized by
inefficiency and fraud. The nation, knowing this, has winked at it. We have
lacked the moral courage to stand up in the fear of God and demand a reform.
More than all, it was not our money. It was a sacred trust confided to us by
helpless men, where common manliness should have blushed for shame at the
theft. . . .
It hardly needed any act of wrong to incite savage natures to murderous
cruelty. But such instances were not wanting. Four years ago the Sioux sold
the Government part of their reservation, the plea for the sale being the
need of funds to aid them in civilization. . . . Of ninety-six thousand
dollars due to the Lower Sioux not one cent has ever been received. All has
been absorbed in claims except eight hundred and eighty dollars and
fifty-eight cents, which is to their credit on the books at Washington. Of
the portion belonging to the other Sioux, eighty-eight thousand, three
hundred and fifty one dollars and twelve cents were also taken for claims. .
.. . For two years the Indians had demanded to know what had become of their
money, and had again and again threatened revenge unless they were
satisfied. Early last spring the traders informed the Indians that the next
payment would be only half the usual amount, because the Indian debts had
been paid at Washington. They were in some instances refused credit on this
account.
It caused deep and widespread discontent. The agent was alarmed, and as
early as May he wrote me that this new fraud must bring a harvest of woe,
saying "God only knows what will be the result." In June, at the time fixed
by custom, they came together for the payment. The agent could give no
satisfactory reason for the delay. There was none to give. The Indians
waited at the Agencies for two months, dissatisfied, turbulent, hungry, and
then came the outbreak. . . . The money reached Fort Ripley the day after
the outbreak. A part of the annuity had been taken for claims and at the
eleventh hour, as the warrant on the treasury shows, as made up from other
funds to save an Indian war. It was too late! Who is guilty of the causes
which desolated our border? At whose door is the blood of these innocent
victims? I believe that God will hold the nation guilty.
Our white race would not be proof against the corrupt influences which have
clustered round these heathen. It would make a Sodom of any civilized
community under heaven. . . .
There is no man who does not feel that the savages who have committed these
deeds of violence must meet their doom. The law of God and man alike require
it; the stern necessities of self-protection demand it.
But while we execute justice, our consciousness of wrong should lead us to
the strictest scrutiny, lest we punish the innocent. Punishment loses its
lesson when it is the vengeance of a mob. The mistaken cry, "Take law into
our own hands!" is the essence of rebellion itself.
As citizens, we have the clear right to ask our rulers to punish the guilty.
The state has the right to arraign these men in her Courts, but anything
like mob violence is subversion of all law. It is a question for the judges
to weigh calmly, how far any man, who was driven into this by savage
leaders, and who committed no violence nor murder himself, shall be deemed
guilty; and whatever that decision is, we ought to bow before the majesty of
the law. There are others who, like Taopi, Good Thunder, Anagmani, and
Wabasha, have a peculiar claim to our protection.
Conscious of wrongs suffered, they resisted the outbreak, and to the last
refused to join it. It was due to them that the captives were rescued and
the guilty delivered up. In the face of death they were the white man's
friend. Are we to reward their fidelity by a cry of extermination? . . .
