Question:
Passing gas (farting) problem please help?
If you don't eat for awhile and you get hungry, and then when you eat again,
and after a little bit, do you pass gas a lot? Like if you don't eat and you
stay hungry for an hour or two, and then you eat after one or two hours, do
you pass a lot or more gas?

John's response (voted Best Answer)

Some foods make you fart more than other things do.

However, this was recently dealt with extensively on Oprah by her "staff
MD". Turns out, it's a VERY IMPORTANT aspect of bowel health to fart some
10-15 times daily.

Since we all do it, it's more rational that we accept that FACT and stop
being so embarrassed about it. I'm sure you could wear stuff in your
underwear up next to your "exit" that would muffle the sound. (I have never
learned to muffle it. One of my most embarrassing moments ever was farting
so loud in church one Sunday that all 300 of my friends in '"Single's Sunday
School" heard it.)

You could take something like "Beano" which supposedly breaks up the gas
before it "erupts" from the exit. BUT, do you really want to INTERFERE with
a process that keeps us healthy?

Focus-- if you can-- on trying several things (clinching your buttocks
around the gas), sitting down, backing away from any "audience", and don't
try so hard to interfere with nature.

At the "other end", I see people going to pains to stop themselves from
sneezing. I see people grab their noses and pinch, and what should be a "Ka
CHOOOOOO!" becomes a "rp". That is VERY dangerous.

I am betting trying to eliminate your farts is also not a good idea.

I'm betting the same screwballs who think farting is "not feminine" are the
screwballs who think body hair on women is not feminine." Hey! Both hair AND
gas are NATURAL.

Hey, this is the same guy who thinks it's perfectly-natural for

five-year-old boys to have sex with four-year-old girls. He's insane.

Most of us have mastered the simple task of cutting and pasting from your

Question:

Can I get some help from an experienced writer?
If you are an experienced writer, will you allow me to e-mail my very short
peice to you for some in-depth criteque? I don't want to post it here, but I
will share with a few people through e-mail. I want to know how to improve
my skills.

John's Answer:

Hi, xoxo!

I'm John. I'm the one who answered you earlier, gave you the advice you
liked, only you didn't send me your story! (I said I'm not "free.")
I made a boo boo. "Sorry!"

I AM glad you re-posted! You're still determined! (that's VERY Good; getting
published is HARD work, and it's not for sissies. BUT, if you start getting
paychecks... it pays off!)

I'll HAPPILYlook at your bit of writing for free! (didn't realize you're a
grade-schooler. (and that bit gets me VERY excited)

(I just did a free re-write for someone else, once I found out he was a
"grade-schooler") Oh! By "grade-schooler," I mean "K-12."
If I can encourage children (as I was encouraged) to crank it up, and become
professionals!
Hey! The world can ALWAYS use another good writer!

Send me your stuff! Even if you've sent it to 5 other people!
I'll read it free of charge! (you can't get too many opinions)
And unlike many wannabes, I actually have been published and made money at
it.
Warning: If you aren't good, I won't lie. BUT, if you have potential...
(and, nothing makes you write more like telling you you're good)

I'll also offer to coach you, if you have any real talent.
